Developed in conjunction with Surfing Australia and some of the world’s best coaches, the first stage of the Surfing Queensland Academy will provide Queensland’s top male and female junior athletes with the opportunity, pathway and resources to reach their full potential into the future.

Beginning in mid-July and running until Nov 2022, the Academy will include team training camps at North Stradbroke Island and digital team catch-ups with special guest speakers and an exclusive team pack.

The program aligns with the Surfing Australia High-Performance talent pathway with the overarching goal of developing Queensland’s top junior and grommet surfers and helping them become the best surfers they can possibly be.

The team is selected based on the accumulative results at the 2022 Queensland State Junior and Grommet Titles (U18, U16 and U14 top 6 boys & top 6 girls), utilising the Surfing Queensland ranking system. This will also be the same selection process utilised for the 2022 QLD State Team who will represent our state in the 2022 Australian Junior Titles.

There are two programs set for 2022, a Junior High-Performance Program (U16 & U18) and the Grommet High-Performance Program (U14).

Both programs include a multitude of physical and digital benefits, experiences, skills and tools to help grow as an athlete and person.

Successful athletes will be contacted directly for inclusion.

More information will be provided soon.
