Surfing Queensland announces Andy King as Talent Pathway Head Coach

Surfing Queensland today announced Andy King as its new Talent Pathway Head Coach.

Andy’s experience includes working as Head Coach for the Red Bull International Surf Program, where, in his first three years, he guided eight athletes to World Tour qualification.

He then returned to Australia and worked with various national sports organisations and as a private coach on the World Championship Tour, helping Julian Wilson secure a second place in 2018.

Surfing Queensland CEO, Adam Yates, said having Andy onboard the Talent Pathway program is a major coup for Queensland surfing.

“Andy King’s experience, both in a structured program environment and as a one-on-one coach to some of the world’s best athletes, will be a huge benefit to Queensland’s up-and-coming surfers,” he said.

In his new role at Surfing Queensland, Andy will oversee the delivery of the high performance program for identified Queensland athletes, nurturing the state’s rising talent.

Other coaches in the Surfing Queensland program include Jay ‘Bottle’ Thompson as Assistant Talent Pathway Coach (Gold Coast), and Tim Just as Assistant Talent Pathway Coach (Sunshine Coast).
