Behind The Lens with Sunshine Coast photographer Tracy Naughton who takes us through her five favourite shots

Published on 08/09/2021

Tracy is an artist and photographer. While originally from New Zealand, she has called the Sunshine Coast home for almost twenty years. After years spent fine tuning her skills, she turned her attention to women’s surfing.

Tracy has worked with The Noosa Festival of Surfing for the last four years, as well as holding her all-female surf exhibition ‘She to Sea’ every year. She has also worked with Billabong, Roxy and many other independent surf brands by capturing women’s surfing in all sorts of lights.

Here are five of her favourite images.

KIRRA CAJELLA. TEA TREE. Here is Kirra, the original muse, bathed in moving light. This is probably my favourite image ever.

KARINA ROZUNKO. TEA TREE. I’ve been lucky enough to capture Karina a few years in a row. Her style is so classic and to catch her in this light was a dream.

LOLA MIGNOT. LITTLE COVE. Lola has one of the most graceful styles of any female longboarder I have witnessed. She has so much style. I was stoked to be able to catch her in her element at Noosa.

HALEY OTTO. TEA TREE. Tea Tree is a great place to shoot and brings the gold every time. Here is Haley bathed in a sea of light foam. The colours and the light were perfect that afternoon.

LILLIANA BOWREY. SUNRISE BEACH. This is a shot of Lilliana at my favourite place to shoot in the sea. The lilac sky was magical!
