SUNSHINE COAST, QUEENSLAND (9 October, 2025) – Queensland’s top boardrider clubs are gearing up for an action-packed weekend as the fourth stop of the Australian Boardriders Battle (ABB) regional series hits the Sunshine Coast this Saturday, 11 October.
Sixteen of the state’s premier clubs – including reigning champions North Shore Boardriders Club (BRC) – will go head-to-head in the one-day qualifier, showcasing Queensland’s deep talent pool. From rising juniors to seasoned World Championship Tour surfers, competitors will battle it out for a coveted place in the Australian Boardriders Battle Grand Final presented by NRMA Insurance, set to return to Burleigh Heads on 7–8 March, 2026.
With powerhouse teams from all over Queensland, the field is stacked for a thrilling day of competition. Mick Fanning (Kirra Surfriders), Sheldon Simkus (Snapper Rocks Surfriders), Isla Huppatz (Burleigh BRC) and Alister Reginato (North Shore BRC) are among the big names to watch.
The ABB’s unique ‘tag team’ format sees clubs nominate 2 x Open Men, 1 x Open Woman, 1 x Master (Over 35), and 1 x Junior (Under 18) to compete. Each surfer’s best wave counts toward their team’s total before they sprint up the beach to tag in the next teammate.
