SNAPPER ROCKS, QUEENSLAND (Saturday 4 July 2026) – The Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp presented by CocoCoast is heading into its penultimate day, with clean 2-3 foot conditions setting the stage for an exciting day of competition at Snapper Rocks tomorrow. While the surf was small early on, competitors across all divisions made the most of the conditions, delivering impressive performances across the board.

The Under 18 Boys were first in the lineup, with dynamic and high level surfing setting the tone for the day. The standout performance of the day came from Ben Zanatta, who triumphed against challenging conditions and completed a near perfect ride with a 9.87 (out of a possible 10), earning one of the highest single-wave scores of the event so far. The wave helped propel Zanatta to the highest-scoring heat of the day, posting a combined total of 19.04 (out of a possible 20).

The intensity continued into Under 18 Boys Round 3 Heat 2, where the competition took another dramatic turn. Despite his earlier heroics, Zanatta was eliminated, while Hunter Sutcliffe and Jesse Ferguson secured their places in the semi-final, setting the benchmark for what promises to be an exciting finish to the division.

The Under 16 Girls division continued to impress, with the finalists now confirmed following a series of high-quality heats. Heat 2 saw close competition as Talia Tebb, Maddison Kenchington, and Charlotte Reilly battled it out, showcasing strong turns and swooping cutbacks. Kenchington stole the show in a last ditch effort, claiming a 9.60 wave with 40 seconds left in her heat. She will advance into the semi-finals alongside Miller-May Berg and Luana Matthies

Competition wrapped up with the Under 12 Boys and Girls semi-finals, where the youngest competitors continued to showcase impressive composure and ability. Myra Brown advanced to the final for the girls with the highest combined wave score for the day, scoring an 8.50 and a 9.0, while Gabriel Kenchington and Taylor Bartlett secured their places in the boys final. Despite their age, the finalists demonstrated mature wave selection and surfing well beyond their years as they booked their places in tomorrow’s championship deciders.

With the finalists now locked in across every division, the stage is set for an exciting Finals Day at the Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp presented by CocoCoast. Champions will be crowned from the Under 12s through to the Under 18 divisions as Australia’s next generation of surfing stars battle it out at Snapper Rocks.
