SUNSHINE COAST, QUEENSLAND (Tuesday, 26 May 2026) – Queensland’s next generation of longboard talent stole the show today at the Queensland State Championships, with standout juniors Luana Matthies and Lennix Currie claiming multiple Queensland Titles in pumping conditions at Alex Bluff on the Sunshine Coast.
Alex Bluff once again turned on for the Longboard and Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) competitors, with clean lines and consistent swell creating ideal conditions for the final day of competition.
Luana Matthies delivered a strong performance, enabling her to take out both the Longboard Junior Women Under 18 division and the prestigious Longboard Open Women division against some of Queensland’s top longboarders.
The exceptional junior talent continued with Lennix Currie, who showcased his ability to compete well beyond his years by claiming victory in both the Longboard Junior Men Under 18 and the highly competitive Longboard Open Men division.

The Over 70 Men final saw Denis Carberry secure victory over Ian Borland in a great display of experience and style.
