SUNSHINE COAST, QUEENSLAND (Monday, 10 August 2026) – Queensland’s next generation of elite surfers will take the first step on the World Surf League (WSL) pathway when the Murf Electric Bikes Noosa Pro Junior presented by Surfboard Empire arrives in the Noosa Shire on 25–26 August 2026.
As the final event of the 2026 WSL Australia/Oceania Junior Tour season, the Noosa Pro Junior will play a pivotal role in deciding this year’s Pro Junior Series Champions. With valuable ranking points and series titles on the line, the event is set to attract the region’s top emerging surfers as they battle for the opportunity to finish the season on top.
The Murf Electric Bikes Noosa Pro Junior, together with the Murf Electric Bikes Tweed Coast Pro Junior, will form the inaugural Murf Coast Cup, a new two-event WSL Pro Junior series designed to strengthen Australia’s high-performance surfing pathway. The series provides the country’s best Under 21 surfers with back-to-back opportunities to earn valuable WSL rankings points while competing at two of Australia’s most iconic surfing destinations.
Professional surfer and Murf Electric Bikes Australia representative Josh Kerr said the new series reflects a shared commitment to supporting the future of Australian surfing.

The WSL Pro Junior series represents the first step into professional surfing, providing emerging athletes with the opportunity to compete in WSL Qualifying Series events before progressing to the Challenger Series and ultimately the Championship Tour.
The pathway has already produced world-class results. Last year’s Tweed Coast Pro Junior champions, Dane Henry (Kingscliff BRC) and Isla Huppatz (Burleigh BRC), both went on to win the WSL World Junior Championships before earning places on the 2026 Challenger Series, highlighting the important role Pro Junior events play in developing Australia’s future surfing stars.
World Surf League Tour Director Ty Sorati welcomed the collaboration, saying the back-to-back events provide an important boost for Australia’s junior competition calendar.
“Bringing the Noosa Pro Junior and Tweed Coast Pro Junior together as the Murf Coast Cup creates a really valuable opportunity for Australia’s best junior surfers to compete across two high-quality events back to back,” said Sorati.

The Murf Coast Cup strengthens the Pro Junior pathway, creates more competitive opportunities for emerging surfers, and helps travelling athletes and families get greater value from their time on the road.”
Surfing Queensland CEO Luca Liussi said the addition of the Noosa Pro Junior reflected Surfing Queensland’s ongoing commitment to delivering more high-quality competition opportunities for the next generation of surfers.

“By aligning the Noosa Pro Junior with the Tweed Coast Pro Junior, we’re creating the inaugural Murf Coast Cup, a valuable WSL Pro Junior series for our region. Combined with the introduction of an Under 21 division at this year’s Australian Shortboard Titles, athletes now have three premier events across three consecutive weeks to look forward to.”

The Murf Electric Bikes Tweed Coast Pro Junior will be held on 22–23 August, immediately preceding the Noosa event. Like Noosa, the event will adopt a mobile format, with Duranbah Beach and Kingscliff Beach identified as the preferred competition locations.
Kingscliff Boardriders Club Event Organiser Kiri Henry said the event is a major milestone for the club and the local community.

Run by Surfing Queensland in partnership with Noosa Boardriders Club, the inaugural Murf Electric Bikes Noosa Pro Junior presented by Surfboard Empire is expected to attract many of Australia’s leading Under 21 surfers while showcasing the vibrant surf culture and world-class waves that have made Noosa one of Australia’s most iconic surfing destinations.
The launch of the inaugural Murf Coast Cup represents a significant step forward for the WSL Pro Junior pathway in Australia.
