Congratulations to Noosa Heads surfer, Vittoria Farmer, for officially receiving a Bronze Medal for Gallantry for her skill and bravery in saving a man’s life at Mawgan Porth Beach in Cornwall, UK in the summer of 2021.
Jon Marshall, a former police officer, found himself caught in a powerful rip and was swept out to sea at a Cornish Beach. Vittoria and fellow lifeguard, Alex Ashen, put themselves in harm’s way and battled for 20 minutes in huge surf to keep Jon afloat until their colleague arrived on a rescue watercraft.
Vittoria was officially invited to join His Royal highness, The Duke of Kent at St Jame’s Palace on Friday 27 May to be presented the award.
Vittoria moved from sunny Queensland in 2021 to live and work in Cornwall UK, as a professional lifeguard.
