Published on 17/04/2024

SUNSHINE COAST, QUEENSLAND (Wednesday, 11 April 2024) – Day five of Parko’s Junior Pro pres. by Campbell Construction Co. ran in clean and consistent 2ft conditions at Coolum Beach.

With over 270 competitors, the six-day Parko’s Junior Pro pres. by Campbell Construction Co. facilitates groms looking to develop their competitive abilities in a variety of surf conditions.

Divisions range from the Under 12 Boys and Girls, all the way up to our elite Under 18 Boys and Girls.

With 10,000 points up for grabs, the groms battled it out in the Quarterfinals, concluding with the Under 12 Girls Semifinals, which saw the up-and-coming athletes surf one-on-one.

The morning saw a plethora of standout performances from the boys, including Ocean Lancaster, who’s best wave scored an 8.17 (out of possible 10) in the first Under 16 Boys heat of the day.

The first heat of the Quarterfinals saw Jaya Suhendra claim victory with an excellent heat total of 15.56 (out of a possible 20). After winning the Cooee Grommet Pro at the end of last year, Suhendra aims to keep his streak going.

Under 16 Girls competitor, Meika Locke surfed a nail-biting heat against the fierce Brisa Canina and Eliza Richardson. All eyes were locked on the water during this heat, with Locke getting the win by only 0.03 points.

Mitchell Peterson and Kash Brown surfed exceptional heats in the Under 18 Boys Quarterfinals, showcasing excellent speed and flow in their surfing. They will be ones to watch out for in the Semifinals.

With Joel Parkinson (AKA. Parko) arriving on-sight mid-morning for Finals Day, these elite athletes will be bringing their A-game across all divisions.

Finals Day of Parko’s Junior Pro pres. by Campbell Construction Co. will see the event conclude with intense man-on-man heats in a location determined based on surf conditions (between Coolum and Caloundra).
