SUNSHINE COAST, QUEENSLAND (Sunday, 31 May 2026) – Queensland’s next generation of surfing stars put on an impressive display today at the Queensland Grommet Surfing Titles Qualifier presented by We Are Feel Good Inc, with winners decided across the Under 12 and Under 14 Boys and Girls divisions at Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast.

Clean conditions and fun surf provided the perfect stage for Queensland’s best young surfers to battle it out for valuable positions in the Queensland Junior & Grommet Surfing Titles Grand Final presented by We Are Feel Good Inc.

The top surfers from each division will now head to the Gold Coast, where they will go head-to-head with the state’s best athletes in the decisive Grand Final to determine the 2026 Queensland Champions.

The Under 12 Girls division kicked off the finals action, with Myra Brown delivering a standout performance that showcased maturity well beyond her years. Brown posted an impressive 8.33 and 8.00 (out of a possible 10) to secure victory and earn the best possible seeding heading into the Grand Final.

The Under 12 Boys final saw Zeph Bartlett dominate the field, posting the highest heat total of the event with an outstanding 18.50 (out of a possible 20). Bartlett put his fellow competitors into a combination situation and secured a commanding victory. He will be one to watch when the Grand Final lands on the Gold Coast from 13–14 June.

The Under 14 Girls division highlighted the strength of Queensland’s emerging female surfers, with Sage Fleming claiming victory against fierce competitors Gracie DwyerEvie Johnston and Zaylah Perez. Fleming maintained control throughout the final, holding a strong position from start to finish on her way to the win.

The event concluded with the Under 14 Boys final, where Thomas Bourke rose to the occasion in spectacular fashion. Needing a score on his final ride, the Snapper Rocks local delivered a brilliant 9.00 (out of a possible 10) on his last wave of the heat to secure victory. Bourke will undoubtedly be one to watch when the series heads to his home break on the Gold Coast for the Grand Final.

With the Sunshine Coast qualifier now complete, attention turns to the Juniors, who will compete in their own qualifier next weekend on the Sunshine Coast. The best from among them will be joining our Grommet surfers on the Gold Coast, where Queensland’s top young surfers will battle it out for state honours.
