Queensland Shines at Australian Bodyboard Titles

Published on 01/09/2025

The Australian Bodyboard Titles have concluded at URBNSURF Sydney, where nearly 100 of the nation’s top bodyboard and dropknee athletes went head-to-head in perfect conditions. URBNSURF Sydney’s world-class wave pool technology delivered machine-perfect waves all day, allowing riders to thread deep barrels, launch progressive manoeuvres, and push the sport to new levels of performance and innovation.

Liam O’Toole (Gold Coast, QLD) was a standout at the event, scoring a perfect 10 on his way to victory in the Masters Over 35 Division and finishing runner-up in the Open Men’s.

“It’s so special to take out the Masters division for Queensland and bring the title home. I came second in the Opens this year, so I’m really stoked with this win. I’ve come close when I was younger, but it feels amazing to finally bring it home for Queensland. Surfing on the right, I managed a perfect 10 — working the outside section, getting barrelled, rolling out, landing back in the barrel, and finishing with a backflip right into the barrel. The wave pool really allowed us to dial it all in.”

Adding to Queensland’s success, Silas Ganciar, President of the Gold Coast Bodyboard Club, received the Tom Wilson Spirit of Bodyboarding Award for his dedication and commitment to bodyboarding in Australia.

Congratulations to the Queensland State Team on an outstanding performance!
