Surfing Queensland COVID-19 update

Dear Clubs, Coaches and Surf Schools,

The Queensland Government has announced some changes to COVID restrictions that affect community sport.

From 4pm AEST Friday 20 August 2021 restrictions will ease in these Local Government Areas:

Brisbane
Gold Coast
Ipswich
Lockyer Valley
Logan
Noosa
Moreton Bay
Redland
Scenic Rim
Somerset
Sunshine Coast

SURFING QUEENSLAND EVENTS

At this stage, the Australian Boardriders Battle (28 August) and Woolworths QLD Junior Titles – Gold Coast Day 2 (29 August) are scheduled to go ahead.

BOARDRIDER CLUB EVENTS

Boardrider Club events are considered a community sport, and therefore can be run after this Friday’s easing of restrictions.

SURF SCHOOLS AND SURF COACHING

Surf schools and coaching can continue to operate.

COVID SAFE REQUIREMENTS

The following guidelines are in place for outdoor sport and recreation:

  • compliance with the COVID Safe Checklist. This includes the collection of contact information through the Check In Qld App
  • it is not possible to observe physical distancing while undertaking activity however attendees must observe physical distancing off the field of play, to the extent possible
  • indoor spaces associated with outdoor based organisations, such as clubhouses, will need to comply with the occupant density of one person per four square metres or 75% allocated seated and ticketed venues.

Surfing Queensland reminds everyone to be complying with standard COVID-safe processes.
