Macro Mike set to fuel the Australian Open of Surfing

Published on 15/07/2021

Surfing Queensland has announced Macro Mike as the official partner of the Queensland leg of the 2021 Australian Open of Surfing.

The Australian Open of Surfing is a series of events that will take place in the latter months of 2021. It provides both professional and aspiring surfers the opportunity to win prize money and gain momentum going into the 2022 season.

Last year’s winners of the Queensland leg included Dimity Stoyle and Aaron Kelly (Gold Coast) and Sophie McCulloch and Cooper Davies (Sunshine Coast).

Surfing Queensland CEO, Adam Yates, said Macro Mike’s standing in the health food industry makes it a fitting partner for the Australian Open of Surfing.

“As the level of professionalism in surfing continues to rise, so does the quality of products that competitors seek out. Macro Mike’s range of health products are ideally suited to surfers, and we’re excited to welcome them as part of the Australian Open of Surfing.”

“The Australian Open of Surfing is a national series that visits some of the best surfing locations across Queensland and New South Wales, providing opportunity for surfers to compete for big cash prizes,” he said.

Mike Kellett, Director for Macro Mike, said their products were already favoured by athletes, and was looking forward to introducing the Macro Mike brand to surfers.

“Finding high-quality health foods that also taste great isn’t easy, which is why we established our range of products that are 100% natural. We’re certain that surfers will love our huge range, particularly our plant-based protein powders and bars.”

Gold Coast Mayor, Tom Tate, said he’s thrilled to kick off the series with another high-profile surfing event on the Gold Coast.

“Surfing is in our city’s DNA, and we have produced multiple world champions over the years. The Australian Open of Surfing will give both youngsters and elite professionals confidence that plenty of surfing is ahead of us.”
