Surfing Queensland Inducts Peter Townend ‘PT’ as a Life Member

Surfing Queensland is thrilled to announce the induction of legendary surfer Peter Townend (PT), the first-ever World Surfing Champion, as a life member to honour his remarkable achievements and contributions to the sport of surfing.

As the first-ever IPS/ASP World Surfing Champion in 1976, PT has played a pivotal role in shaping the sport and its culture. Hailing from the Gold Coast, PT’s incredible talent, dedication, and passion for surfing has inspired generations of surfers around the world.

Surfing Queensland is proud to recognise PT’s extraordinary achievements by granting him the prestigious status of life membership. This honour is reserved for individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to the sport in Queensland and beyond. PT’s lifelong commitment and achievements to the sport of surfing undoubtedly embodies this criteria.
